On March 16th 2014 Romeo the boxer & his Bucket List crossed the rainbow bridge in his mother’s arm. -Riina Cook, Romeo’s mom, posted on Romeo’s Facebook page:
This morning at 9:30, I peacefully left this world. I was in my Mom’s arms and in the comfort of my own home. Thank you for following my story and for all the amazing support. Love you all, Romeo”
Dear Romeo,
The morning you left I woke up thinking about you. I didn’t have a chance to follow your adventures on Facebook for a few days since I was getting ready for my trip to Mexico. That morning, I just had to know about you. I was certainly very shocked and sad when I read you of your departure.
Romeo I never met you, but I feel, among with many other of your followers, that we were best friends. I enjoyed sharing your adventures with my boys Mylo and Chico the boxers. We all laughed and enjoyed the many great things you did for others, and the special moments you had like your 9th birthday party. I even encouraged my guys to perhaps, go on dates with other boxer girls…haha! I think they are a bit shy 🙂
Today Romeo, I want to tell you that your story continues to touch so many people hearts all over the world. Romeo, you are reminding us to appreciate every moment we have. See, I sometimes think I am too busy but you taught me and proof me there is time to make the best out of the worst. I am sure you already know this, but man you are a world wild popular gal and I’ve heard many others are having Bucket Lists with their fur kids too, which is a huge thing. You rock boy!
xoxo –Evelyn, Mylo & Chico
Romeo’s Facebook page – ‘Romeo the Boxer‘ launched just after his 9th birthday at the begging of march, quickly gained over 5000 followers. Romeo’s story has been published on yahoo, daily mail uk, life with dogs tv, metro news, global news, huffungtonpost and CBC Canada among many other blogs and news sites. The page continues to run with the objective of being a place where other pet parents can share their Bucket List after the loss of their best fur friend.
April 6th 2014 on Romeo’s Facebook Page:
“ Hey, how you doin? Even though I’m not here anymore, Mom is keeping my page open so others can share their Bucket List for their pets. She would also like to help anyone that is loosing or has lost a pet and needs shoulder to cry on. It’s a VERY tough time and having someone to talk to helps. Many of you helped her and we appreciate that! Time to pay it forward! Have a happy Sunday y’all Romeo”
A final video has been released by a good friend of Romeo. I’ve heard great things about it. Personally, still gathering the courage to watch it.
