 Do some good with Open Farm, the first major pet food company Certified Humane® Raised and Handled pet foods in Canada.

It’s an absolutely pleasure to launch today a project that has been sitting on the back burner; a new column to bring you all the insights for a Cruelty Free Lifestyle!

The kick started feature brand is Open Farm , and I’m thrilled because they really care to do some good, from outsourcing the best for your pet, to giving back and more!

{THE BRAND}

People are conscious about natural healthy living. People want to know where products are coming from and, how it’s affecting our enviroment. Pet parents are also applying these questions to their pets food. I do, do you? Open Farm  is responding to all these unknown answers for the first time by caring to do some good.

Open Farm is a Canadian company based in Toronto providing pet parents a brand new local pet food line ethically raised & sourced.  This means,  Open Farm only uses proteins from Certified Humane® farms and ranches. Open Farm  works with farmers who share the same commitment towards responsible practices to offer better food for pets while doing some good to family farms, farm animals and the environment.

Open Farm is certainly a company with a love for pets, like their  VP Dom Finelli, recently featured Notable Young Entrepeneur who spends about “90% of his hime with his dog Dexter everyday!  Open Farm is now available in all Canada and will be launched in USA this year. You can find Open Farm current retailers here and visit Open Farm FAQ page for further information.

{WHAT CERTIFIED HUMANE® LABEL MEANS}

It means the farm animals are raised with respect and cruelty free. They are allowed to express their natural behaviours, they live with plenty of space to run free and farmers don’t use antibiotics to raise them. The Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC),  is an international non-profit certification organization caring to  improve the lives of millions of farm animals in food production. By Open Farm being the first company obtaining such a stamp, pet parents can now have assurance as where is their pet’s food coming from, as well as knowing their food is for the first time, a humane pet food.

{DO SOME GOOD}

At Tail-Waggers we are a big time supporters of giving back, reason why we were completely drawn to learn more about Open Farm’s DO SOME GOOD value. Basically Open Farm aims to do some good, to help animals with everything they do.  Last year they had their first contest to donate 1,000 lbs of Open Farm food to two animal rescues. The winners were Second Chance Auction Animals Rescue
 and Finding Them Homes Online Auction.

Right now Open Farm is running their first 2015 contest: Clean Bill of Health Rescue Giveaway!  As a long time volunteer for rescue groups, I totally understand the importance of veterinary care for the dogs at rescue groups. Open Farm is rocking it by giving two prizes, $1,500 for the grand prize and $1,000 for second place. You have until Sunday, Jan 18th to nominate your favourite rescue.  Enter this awesome Open Farm Giveaway here and let’s start the year with #DoSomeGood!
