149873_173837779298537_4246150_nT H E   R E S C U E :  The Dog  Rescuers Inc is a non-profit organization based in Oakville, Ontario. They are run by a group of dedicated volunteers with a passion for rescuing and re-homing all breeds of dogs. They have 16 years of rescue experience to draw from. Not one their volunteers is on payroll. They all cover their  own expenses because they all love what we do.

How does The Dog Rescuers Inc work?

They accept dogs directly from their current families as owner surrenders, but they  also have long standing relationships with many of the humane societies and animal controls throughout the province. They work closely with these organizations and often have dogs referred to them to help relieve overcrowding or to help in situations where there is a lack of resources. All of their dogs are assessed for any behavioural or medical issues, and from there we have an idea as to what the ideal home would be for that particular dog. All of their adoptions are done on a match basis, so as to match the needs of the dog with the needs and expectations of the family. Every single one of their dogs receives necessary vet care ranging from annual care to costly surgeries. All dogs are vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped and spayed or neutered while in our program. The dogs are all placed in foster homes until a forever home is found. Expenses to cover our medical costs, as well as basic supplies are funded from our adoption fees, as well as the generous donations made by the members of the public.

Mississauga_humane_societyT H E   R E S C U E : Mississauga Humane Society or MHS strives to save as many unwanted animals as possible regardless of background, age, health and/or behavioural issues. Their goal is to find each of their rescued animals a FOREVER HOME where they are treated as a family member.

How does The MHS work?

They DO NOT have a facility, a shelter or paid staff and operate through a network of foster homes and volunteers. Despite limitations in their resources, they are able to achieve their rescue mission by excellent co-ordination work with various organisations and the general public.

Who they rescue: They  rescue homeless companion animals regardless of background, age and health/behaviourial issues. To help prevent pet overpopulation that leads to the tragedy of killing MILLIONS of unwanted pets every year, all our animals are neutered/spayed, health and age permitting from Pound/Shelter Animals, Stray Cats and Surrendered Pets.

After  the rescue, they will arrange for the pet to receive a veterinary check-up and be given the necessary vaccinations. All their animals are spayed or neutered and placed on a foster home or a boarding facility until a foster space is found. Pets are put up for adoption on their website when they know they are ready.

431423_10151264388765187_1829068025_nR E C E I V I N G   A   P A W : Juan Elduayen of  Front Street Animal Hospital has been Mylo’s vet since he was a puppy. His dedication and love towards animals was obvious as soon as we  walked in Front Street Animal Hospital for the first time. Mylo was treated with respect and professionalism from Dr. Juan and all the staff that works there.

“Dr. Juan is from Venezuela and became a Veterinarian there. When he came to Canada he worked very hard as a Veterinary Technician to obtain his life long goal of becoming a Veterinarian here in Canada. He has only just recently received his license and now has been diagnosed with an inoperable form of adenocarcinoma which has metastasized.

Dr. Juan is a very kind soul with a great passion for his family, friends, profession and life. He has a wife and young daughter who are very supportive of him and depend on him dearly.

He has discovered a cancer centre in California that can help him beat this cancer but he needs our help!  It is time to give a PAW to someone that has dedicated his life to animals. ANY DONATION  -Big or sMALL-  will be much appreciated by him and his family. This is the beginning of a long battle for Juan and his family but we are confident with his positive attitude he will beat this!”

TO DONATE  NOW please visit Help Dr. Elduayen . To check fundraising events to help him reach his goal visit Front Street Animal Hospital website

Sponsoring Boxer Rescue Canada as part of Tail-Waggers PROJECTRECEIVING A PAW: Boxer Rescue Canada.  Harley is a 9 month old sweet boxer boy who was surrendered on April 2, 2012. Harley was surrendered to us because he became paralyzed three weeks previously and his family was unable to care for him any longer. As well as the physical and financial considerations, they live in a rural area and lacked access to specialized veterinary care.

After diagnostics and a MRI Harley appears to have had a hemorrhage in his spinal cord that caused a clot and burst. With aggressive and intensive physiotherapy the vets are cautiously optimistic that Harley will overcome his paralysis and go on to lead a normal life. Harley’s medical expenses to date are about $3,800.00. His ongoing medical and therapy expenses are going to mount up quickly.

If you are able, we are asking you to make a donation to Boxer Rescue Canada to contribute to Harley’s expenses. Large or small, every dollar helps. Donations can be made via PayPal or email transfer to boxerrescuecanada@gmail.com
